The NSS Heritage Museum Presents

Septemberfest

It’s that time of the year again, and with the changing of the season comes the NSS Heritage Museum’s 12th annual Septemberfest celebration! Join us for a fun filled autumn afternoon of activities celebrating our Slovak culture and heritage. Visitors can shop vendors offering items for sale such as decorative pieces, jewelry, arts and crafts, Slovak themed snacks and food items, and much more. Admission is FREE and open to the public. Parking is FREE and available in the parking lot located below the home office, as well as across the street located next door in the Jordan Tax Services lot. We welcome all to join us for this family friendly day of celebration. We hope to see you there!

International Marketplace

Visitors are welcome to browse various vendor stalls where unique items will be offered. Take home an interesting hand-made Slovak folk craft, Ethnic gift, or sweet confection as a souvenir.

Ethnic Foods & Pastries

Visitors are encouraged to visit our Slovak Café where you can choose from a variety of familiar dishes. Sure to satisfy your passion for that taste of home! Enjoy a selection of homemade sweet treats from the NSSHM bakers. Dobrú Chuť!​

Rusty Gold Brewers

Representatives from Rusty Gold Brewers will be present during the event offering samples of their custom crafted beer.

3 Rivers Model A Ford Club

Attendees will be able to view classic vehicles on hand from the 3 Rivers Model A Ford Club. The regional club here in Western PA dedicated to the restoration, preservation and enjoyment of the Ford Model A cars as manufactured from 1928 through 1931.

NSS Heritage Museum

While attending Septemberfest, we welcome all to visit the on site NSS Heritage Museum’s and it’s new exhibit titled “Slovaks in America.” Learn about the journey Slovaks made to the United States over 100 years ago and how they became an important part of the American ethnic landscape.​

Folk Arts & Crafts

Attendee’s are welcome to join in on the various arts & crafts presentation exhibits designed to teach unique skills. Also performing inside the museum will be Martin Meyer, a young strolling violinist, who will also lead a hands on ethnic weaving demonstration.

Children’s Events and Activities

11:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Attendees with children are encouraged to visit the children’s area. Take part in arts & crafts or games where the kids can play for FREE, and then redeem their tickets for prizes.

Polka Classics Polka Band

12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The Polka Classics Polka band will be playing all your favorite hits, LIVE!.

 

Folk Dancing & Music

3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Don’t miss out on Slovak modern and folk dancing and music performed by The Pittsburgh Slovakians and Pittsburgh Junior Slovakians, Pittsburgh’s oldest Slovak dance troupe.
