| As
a fraternal benefit society our mission calls us to "reach
out to touch lives" in concern for those in need around
us through our families, churches, and community. The
purpose of this fraternal award is to recognize those members
that have gone that extra "mile"
in volunteer fraternal service (i.e., meals on wheels, hospital
work, visiting shut-ins, etc.). Through
their tireless volunteer efforts those around them have benefited
significantly. These are people who rarely say, "No!",
and are always willing to lend a hand.
Nominations
from our assemblies are accepted each year through the April
1st deadline. Judging is done by an independent panel
from another fraternal benefit society.
A
donation of $500.00 is made to the not-for-profit organization
of the awardee's choice. The
winner also has their name placed into nomination for the
National Fraternal Congress of America, "Fraternalist
of the Year" program. Finally,
their name is added to the plaque that currently hangs in
the lobby of the Home Office.
